In accordance with the Midwifery Model of Care, SYV Midwifery offers: 1-hour long comprehensive prenatal visits (monthly through 28 weeks, bimonthly through 36 weeks, weekly from 36 weeks-birth). Prenatal care includes: routine prenatal screening and diagnostic tests, referrals to specialists as needed, water birth, and ongoing in-home postpartum care (at days 1, 3, and 10) through six weeks after birth, including lactation support.

Your Licensed Midwife can support your planned hospital birth in the role of a monitrice. Clinical care is provided to you at home (e.g., fetal heart tone assessment, dilation checks) to assist you in deciding when to go to the hospital. When you arrive at the hospital, your monitrice will solely act as your “doula”, providing labor support through birth and immediate postpartum. This service includes up to 3 prenatal and 2 postpartum visits.

SYV Midwifery provides sexual and reproductive healthcare to low-risk clients, such as: clinical well-person exams, contraception counseling, fertility/cycle health and awareness, and the processing of past birth experiences. This modality weaves in the mind-body-spirit connection of the whole person.
